KUCHING: It proved to be an extremely costly breakfast for a trader who suffered a staggering RM25,000 in losses after his car was broken into yesterday. The incident was discovered around 8am when the 40-something trader arrived back at his car after having his morning meal at an eatery in Jalan Padungan and found the key slot on the driver’s door had been picked.

The realisation that he had become a victim of theft dawned on the trader when a frantic search inside his car revealed that all of his valuables were missing.

Among the items he had left inside the vehicle included RM20,000 worth of his wife’s jewelleries, a laptop and a digital camera.

The case is being investigated after a police report of the incident was lodged.

In an unrelated incident, a 60-year-old pensioner lost about RM500 in cash to a suspected pick-pocket at a supermarket on Tuesday.

The woman was shopping at the supermarket in the Tabuan area around 6pm when she realised that her wallet, which was kept inside her purse, was missing.

She suspected that she had fallen victim to a pick-pocket due to the crowded nature of the supermarket at the time of the incident. A police report of the incident was lodged yesterday.
