Rubber estate owner allegedly beaten up, threatened by Indonesians

SIBU: A 40-year-old rubber estate owner lodged a police report after he was injured and threatened by Indonesians at his rubber estate in Sungai Menyan last week.The incident allegedly happened when the owner saw three Indonesian workers collecting latex at his rubber estate without his permission.

He believed the Indonesians were sent to do so by some local people.

Feeling dissatisfied, the owner stole the latex that was tapped by the Indonesians.

When the Indonesians found the latex they collected were stolen, they beat him up and warned him not to appear at the rubber estate.

The owner suffered injuries on his shoulder and lodged a police report.

Acting on his report, the police arrested two men aged 25 and 44 believed to be involved in the incident on Wednesday at 4pm.

They were believed to be those sending the Indonesians to the estate to collect the latex.

After questioning, the 25-year-old was released while the 44-year-old was detained for further investigation.

According to Sibu police chief ACP Shafie Ismail, action will be taken after recording the victim’s statement.

They are investigating the case under Section 323 and 506 of the Penal Code.
