They are Patrick Low, Peter Tan, Jason Victor and Charlie Lim from The Professional Gallery from West Malaysia as well as Kuching’s very own Alvin Leong.

There are to give photography talks and participate in the bridal fair ‘All About Weddings’ organised by tHe Spring Shopping Mall at the mall’s ground floor courts from April 14 to 18.

According to Patrick Low, the talks aim to promote professional photography skills to the public.

“We want to show members of the public, especially the soon-to-be wedded couples, what professional photography can do for their wedding photographs.

“Besides that, we get to meet and network with other local professional photographers here,” he told a press conference at tHe Spring management office here yesterday.

Alving Leong said there will be a promotional wedding photograph package from his Conference Wedding Photography (CW) that costs under RM1,000 at the bridal fair.

“The package is so that customers can afford to have professional photographs taken at very reasonable prices,” he explained.

tHe Spring’s advertising and promotion manager Ronald Ling said the professionals were brought together to expose the people to a variety of wedding packages and alternative arrangements.

In conjunction with the bridal fair, a photography contest, open to members of the public (Malaysian and foreign) since yesterday at an entrance fee of RM15, will be judged by these professional photographers.

All photographs must be taken within tHe Spring Shopping Mall using the participant’s own camera and equipment.

Participants can submit as many entries as they want.

Each entry must be accompanied by the date the image was taken and a tagline for the photograph.

Winners stand a chance to win the first prize of RM500 in cash vouchers and a FotoBook worth RM259.

The second prize is a RM400 cash voucher and a FotoBook worth RM149 while third prize, a RM300 cash voucher and FotoBook worth RM109.

Three consolation prizes of RM150 cash vouchers will be given away. All winners are to receive a certificate each.

Entries must be submitted by 12pm on April 17 (Saturday).

Winners will be contacted by phone.

A prize-giving ceremony will be held on April 18 followed by a Photography Gallery display of all entries.

Participation forms are available at the mall’s customer service counter on the ground floor.

The main event which is the bridal fair will climax at 8pm today with a fashion show from That Special Occasion.

The fashion show will showcase 12 gowns designed by Kris Wong from That Special Occasion.

One of the gowns will be auctioned off for charity.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).

“Our focus is to showcase to people the customisation of our gowns. We will showcase 12 gowns from my creations for the fashion show, where one will be up for auction,” Kris said.

On April 17, That Special Occasion will also hold a fashion show at 2pm, followed by a photography talk by Charlie Lim, a fashion show by Alvin Leong Photography, and another photography talk by Jason Victor.
