Its president, Datuk Dr Lam Peng Chong, said the association proposed to turn the existing one-storey building in Petaling Jaya into a twin nine-storey building. Apart from generating income, the expansion programme could also help cope with the increasing number of spastic children at the centre, which currently housed 300 disabled-children, in the future.

Under the proposal, the association would rent out three storeys for offices and another two storeys for public parking bays to generate income while the rest of the space would be utilised to house boy and girl domitories, an exhibition hall and training facilities, among others.

“It will enable us to earn rental and parking income to ensure our continued survival and sustainability,” he told a new conference here today to announce the Celebrity Chefs Dinner to raise funds for the association. The dinner will be held on May 10 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel here with celebrity chefs from Australia specially flown in to prepare an extraordinary menu of Australian cruisine for 350 guests. — Bernama
