18-year-old lass is Miss Talent WHF 2010

KUCHING: An energetic and captivating ‘Eye of the Tiger’ dance performance by Miss Fair and Lovely finalist Ummu Khansa Rumainoor managed to capture the hearts of the judges and audience when she was crowned Miss Talent World Harvest Festival (WHF) 2010 on Sunday night.

The 18-year-old beauty’s creative dance moves was complemented by adventurous stunts in her dance number which was inspired by ‘Survivor’, the hit single from the 80’s sensation.

Besides winning the Miss Talent title, Ummu also emerged as the winner for the 80’s category.

She received a a cash prize of RM1,000, a trophy and sash which were presented by Datin Dr Zaliha Abdullah, the wife of Assistant Minister of Tourism and Heritage Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

The competition was divided into three categories representing three eras; the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Dewi Liana Seriestha, a 21-year-old lass who is of Bidayuh-Javanese parentage won second place and first in the 60’s category after she belted out a song from Nat King Cole entitled ‘When I Fall in Love’.

On the other hand, Kayan-English beauty, Aniscia James Barcally, 19, won third place and first in the 70’s category from her musical drama accompanied by songs from the movie ‘Grease’.

Participants of the competition were judged based on their talent, originality, creativity as well as their costume.

Miss Talent WHF 2010 is one of the subsidiary titles to be grabbed by the 14 finalists of Miss Fair and Lovely WHF 2010 where the grand final will be on May 29 at the Sarawak Cultural Village.

It is co-organised by SCV and E-One Dasri Talent Management. World Harvest Festival is organized by SCV in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage. Unilever (M) Sdn Bhd is the main sponsor of this ethnic beauty pageant since the event was first introduced 12 years ago in 1999.

The finalists are Dayang Zeffyshaffiqa, Kueh Mei Fung, Dayang Faisya Fazlynna, Dewi Liana Seriestha, Scherrie Amanda Kueh, Shahnaz Hai’adz, Aniscia James Barcally, Prescilla Raymond, Khairunnisa Ismadi, Elizabeth Dorrie, Sharene Ormilla Ngilo, Sherryl Akhma, Ummu Khansa and Nur Hanie Syafira.

Other subsidiary titles up for grabs are Miss Beautiful EyeSight, Miss Photogenic, Miss Congeniality, Miss Springtime and Miss Voters’ Favourite.
