KK to host Consumer Trade Expo

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu City is set to host the BIMP-EAGA Consumer Trade Expo Sabah 2010 at Padang Merdeka from Aug 6 to 9.Expected to draw some 100,000 visitors, the consumer fair will serve as a platform for local and international participants to showcase and introduce their products to the market.

After hearing a briefing on the event by its organisers, Mayor Datuk Iliyas Ibrahim hoped the expo would be a success and bring more tourists to the city.

The organisers, Reliable Advertisement, a local-based company and Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd (SASB) from Brunei, are targeting to have more than 10 countries taking part in the expo.

In his briefing to Iliyas, SASB business development and marketing executive Rennie Chan said they were hoping to create and develop a signature expo in Sabah.

He said they were targeting 250 booths to be occupied by local and international participants exhibiting among others, food and beverage, health products, home appliances, vehicles, financial and insurance products, travel and tour, education, IT and communications, home furnishing and lifestyle as well as toys.

The highlights of the four-day expo will be the Winter Wonderland Park, Battle of Bands and lucky draws for lucky visitors.

Iliyas said he is confident the expo would be a success and told the organisers to liaise with other relevant agencies to ensure its success.

Also present at the briefing were Reliable Advertisement managing director Chong Tsen Vui, Sunlit Advertising managing director Jackson Ting and City Hall directors Ir Lee Tet Fon and Victor Gerard.
