Police smash car theft syndicate

JOHOR BAHARU: The police have routed a syndicate of car thieves operating in Ulu Tiram here, with the arrest of six men, including three foreigners, recently.Eight stolen cars worth about RM1 million were seized from the suspects who have been remanded to facilitate investigations into a spate of car thefts in the district.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said five of the suspects were nabbed in a raid on a car service centre-cum-welding workshop in Jalan Sungai Tiram, Ulu Tiram on April 28.

He said the five comprised the workshop owner and his four workers, including three foreigners, aged between 30 and 50 years, adding that the remaining suspect was nabbed yesterday.

“The cars were found in the premises,” he told reporters at the Johor police contingent headquarters here. — Bernama
