KUCHING: Grass Cutter are set to defend their KGS Team Matchplay title in the final that will tee-off at 7.50am at Kelab Golf Sarawak Matang Nine tomorrow.They booked their final berth last Saturday by edging Team Titans 3-2 in the semi-final.
En route to the final, the defending champions have beaten DM Stars 3-2, beat PGABS also 3-2, and Ferrari 3-2 in the quarterfinals.
Grass Cutter are led by captain Chow Tung Leh whose team members include Joseph Lau, Jay Ng, Sim Khee Hian, Teo Sio Song, Peter Sim, Raymond Bakeri, Voon Yong Hui and Goh Thai Soon.
Their opponent in the final will be the winner of today’s losers’ pool semi-final between U1616 and Team Titans, which will tee-off at 11.34am at Matang Nine.
This year’s contest is participated by 16 teams compared to 13 last year, vying for the Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Wong Soon Kai’s Challenge Trophy.
Other teams include KGS Junior, Kaban 10, K30 Calon Perdana and DPIM.
The championship is played based on double knockout format with one foursome, two four-ball and two singles for each match.
