They must instead unite and work together as a team to fight the struggle of their community and shine in various fields.

Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang said this when officiating at the AGM of Miri Malay Association (PMM) yesterday.

“What we need is to give our undivided support to people in our community who wish to progress,” he said.

According to Ahmad Lai, Malays must be vocal in championing their interests and strengthening their struggle including in politics, economy and social to be on par with other races in the state and country.

He said Malays, as Sarawakians, cannot work by themselves but as a team with other communities under the spirit of BN and 1Malaysia to develop the state. Ahmad Lai said Malays must be committed to hard work and not

point the finger of blame at others.

Commenting on the PMM, he said the association had contributed much to the community and the people at large, and the government was proud of its achievement.

He said PMM had proven that it had looked into the interests of the community with more Malays doing well as doctors, lawyers and accountants.

PMM members were told to give their undivided support to the association to safeguard their community’s interest and welfare of the less fortunate.

PMM president Wan Morshidi Tuanku Abdul Rahman who also attended the AGM said priority should be given to creating an educated generation.

He advised parents to provide education for their children, including religious teaching.

“We must think far ahead for the Malay community to become an excellent race among the multi-racial communities in the state,” stressed Wan Morshidi.
