Girls’ Brigade expresses appreciation to Methodist schools

SIBU: The First Sibu Girls’ Brigade Company expressed their deepest appreciation to the Methodist secondary and primary schools principals and teachers who have greatly helped to promote the Girls’ Brigade in their respective schools and encouraged their students to be the Girls’ Brigade members.

Captain of 1st Sibu Girls’ Brigade Company, Tnay Yong Hua stressed that, without their strong support, it would have been impossible for them to move on as a uniformed group in schools, to be recognised by the Ministry of Education.

“We remember and thank God, for parents who send their daughters to us faithfully, week after week, entrusting us the task of guiding their children, to find true enrichment of life.

“We appreciate very much your cooperation and we will do our best to help your girls to grow holistically,” she pointed out when speaking at the Girls’ Brigade Malaysia of 1st Sibu Girls’ Brigade Company 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert, held at Dewan Suarah Sibu, Friday night.

Tnay who is also the National President of the Girls’ Brigade Malaysia also thanked all the pastors, leaders and members of the Wesley Methodist Church for their marvelous spiritual and financial support.

“Your strong partnership and contributions have benefited the past generations, present and many more generations to come,” she added.

Tnay said, thus, it has enabled them throughout all these years for the Girls’ Brigade to provide weekly activities, camps and trainings for the girls’ leading to physical, educational, social and spiritual maturity as well as encouraged them to express what they have learned through practical services at home, community and church.

“We remember and thank God, for the many dedicated officers, past and present ones, for their commitments and love for these young girls. Working with the girls has enriched us tremendously and we have learnt so many precious values and valuable lessons,” she added.

The first Captain of the Girls’ Brigade 1st Sibu Company, Mona Pengelly who had travelled all the way from Launceston, Cornwall County – Southwest of England to Sibu to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary and Mona’s successor, Chiew Geok Lee (Wong Bing Sing) were also happily present.
