DALAT: Some 62 daily-paid employees of Ministry of Social Development and Urbanisation (KPSU) will become the ‘pioneer staff’ to be absorbed into permanent employment in various departments in the on-going redeployment exercise undertaken by the government.

However, Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datin Fatimah Abdullah, who announced this, was quick to mention that only employees below 54 years old and holding good academic qualifications would be absorbed.

She made these remarks in her speech at the opening ceremony of Traditional Dance Workshop organised by KPSU Mukah in collaboration with Dalat District Office held at Stadium Perpaduan Dalat on July 3.

“The government is offering some 62 permanent positions under the ‘Jawatan Berasaskan Caruman (JBC)’ to daily-paid employees of KPSU.

“This JBC scheme is based on ‘caruman’ (contributions), permanent but not pensionable, applicable for technical positions of B41, B27, B17 for musicians, cultural officers, designers, make-up artists and technicians.

“This group will form the first batch in the on-going redeployment exercise involving all daily-paid employees of KPSU,” said Fatimah who is also Minister in-charge of Human Resource Development.

Touching on performing arts, Fatimah reminded performing artists not to neglect their studies as good academic qualifications, apart from their natural talents and passion, were very necessary for them to succeed in their chosen fields.

In his welcoming speech, organising chairman, who is also Dalat District officer, Yussibnosh Balo reminded the participants to practise positive thinking and approaches in promoting traditional dances and performing arts in Dalat District.

The two-day workshop successfully attracted some 30 dancers from Dalat District.

Themed ‘Berakar Rumbia Berinti Budaya’ the workshop was conducted by facilitators and choreographers from KPSU Kuching.

Also present at the function were KPSU Mukah officer Timothy Dominic Atong, Pemanca Henry Eli Berangai and other community leaders.
