SMK Tung Hua wins title for fourth time

SIBU: SMK Tung Hua Patrol 1  retained the title of ‘overall best team in scouting skills’ in Sibu District for the fourth consecutive year.

The team led by fifth former Wong Jui Gui emerged champion in the three competition of ‘Tower project’, ‘Scouting skills’ and ‘Jungle cooking’.

Deputy chairman of Sibu District Scouts’ Council (SDSC) Kapitan Simon Wong Doh Woo was present to give away the awards at SDSC’s premises here on Saturday evening.

When interviewed, Wong was overjoyed that this was the fourth time the team triumphed over other teams from seven secondary schools.

He attributed the success to teamwork and understanding among team members.

SMK Methodist Patrol 1 was second and SMK Chung Cheng Patrol 2 came in third.

Meanwhile, new Scouts Commissioner of Sibu District, Ong Sing Chai said their district would celebrate World Scouts’ Day on Aug 1 with ‘Malam Indaba’ and a telematch at SDSC’s premises.

The guest-of-honour would be Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Hiew King, who is also the chairman of SDSC.
