SUNGAI PETANI: Tabung Haji is working to find new hotels in Mecca to accommodate Malaysian pilgrims for this year’s Haj season due to the various developments being carried out in the holy city.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Senator Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, said various projects to renovate and upgrade facilities in Mecca were being carried out by the Saudi Arabian government.

“Many buildings have been demolished to make way for new buildings and those affected are used by Tabung Haji as hotels for Malaysian pilgrims,” he told reporters after opening the Sungai Petani Umno divisional delegates meeting here yesterday.

On preparations being made by Tabung Haji for this year’s Haj pilgrimage, he said it was going on smoothly. — Bernama
