TAWAU: A double-storey detached wooden house rented by a family of five at Taman Song, Jalan Belunu here was destroyed in a fire yesterday evening.
Neighbours saw black smoke coming out from the back of the house about 7.30pm.
One of the victims, Louise in his 20s, said he was watching television in the living room after dinner when he heard someone shouting outside his house there was a fire.
He and his parents and two cousins immediately ran out from the house.
Louise, a Filipino, had rented the house for three months.
The Fire and Rescue Services Department sent two fire engines with more than 10 firemen to the scene after receiving the emergency call. The fire was completely pulled out about 8.30pm.
