FATAL CRASH: Bomba personnel trying to extricate the victims from the wreckage.

His car had rammed into them in the wee hours yesterday.

The freak accident killed on the spot front seat passenger Haznan Mohd, 19.

Police are investigating whether the tragedy occurred at high speed.

Haznan succumbed to head injuries while the 24-year-old driver fractured his left arm and left thigh.

The body of Haznan was sent to the hospital mortuary while the driver was warded.

The car was badly damaged in the accident which occurred in the wee hours when the house owner and his wife were in Mukah, leaving his son home-alone.

The son heard a loud crash when the car slammed into his gate, but dared not come out to check.

Some 40 minutes later after hearing the siren, he emerged to find to his shock that both the gate of their house and a section of the cement wall fence had come down.

Rescuers from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) were seen extricating Haznan’s body.

Although the cause of the accident was not clear, neighbours believe the car had rammed the gate first before ramming the cement wall beside it, bringing both down.

The house owner, on returning, said he believed the car could have gone out of control due to the uneven road.

He said nearly a dozen of accidents had occurred there before, and that he had complained about the poor condition of the road to the relevant authorities.
