KOTA KINABALU: A Filipino was arrested by security guards of Wisma Merdeka here after he stole the wallet of a tourist yesterday.
The security guards detain the injured theft suspect.
The tourist had earlier exchanged some notes with a foreign exchange dealer at the shopping centre.
As he was leaving the dealer’s shop, the 30-year-old suspect tailed him and pickpocketed his wallet.
When the victim realised that his wallet was missing from his pocket, he screamed for help and it alerted the security guards.
During the escape, the suspect fell and hurt himself outside the shopping centre. The security guards then detained and handed him over to the police.
The wallet was recovered from the suspect and returned to the tourist.
