Kidnapped girl found 2 hours later

IPOH: A girl who was kidnapped by an unidentified man, driving a green Perodua Myvi in Taman Meru here, was found two hours later about 45km from where the incident took place.

Ipoh police chief ACP Azisman Alias said the incident happened at about 8.30pm when the girl, 11, and her brother, 9, were returning home from a religious class at a neighbour’s house.

“A man, driving a car approached the girl under the pretext of asking something but suddenly dragged the girl into the car and sped off,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The girl’s brother and his friend ran after the car for a short distance before deciding to inform their religious class teacher about the incident.

Meanwhile, the father of the victim said when he heard of the incident, he quickly made a police report  and  sought  the  help of  friends  to  send  out short message service (SMS), to alert others of the incident and look out for the car.

The father who was thankful that his daughter was unharmed said she was approached by the man who pretended to ask for a shop to reload his hand phone before dragging her into the car.

According to Azisman, the girl was found at Taman Kinta in Gopeng at about 10.45pm by a man who later sent her to the Gopeng police station. — Bernama
