New milestone for Education Department sports festival

KUCHING: The 30th instalment of the state’s Education Service Ethnic and Sports Festival (PSKPP) achieved a new milestone by offering 32 games and programmes in its itinerary involving the participation of more than 3,800 staff of the education department across the state.

Among the games and programmes were football, badminton, petanque, tenpin bowling, athletics and fishing, which will be conducted at the State Stadium and a few locations across the city.

Speaking during the official launching of the festival yesterday at State Stadium, state’s Education Department director Datu Dr Julaihi Bujang reminded the participant to compete in a positive way, and at the same time try to strengthen the ties between the state’s district education offices.

“Compete in a positive way and at the same time, take the opportunity from this carnival to shape our self ability and confidence and apply it when we come back to work as usual,” said Dr Julaihi.

He also urged all participants to be positive and show their best potential in every games they were to participate.

A total of 12 contingents from the education headquarters, Kuching, Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Kapit, Sibu, Sarikei, Betong, Sri Aman and Samarahan, are taking part in the festival, which started yesterday until Aug 7.

Also present were Kuching Education Officer Bedui Une and his deputy Catherina Ritikos.
