In the gross category, Terence Chai claimed first place with a find effort of 79 followed by Dr Tan Lean Sim with 81. Last place on the podium was Zainuddin Akup who carded a 83.

Speaking before the prize presentation ceremony yesterday, MBKS Mayor James Chan thanked the “charitable heart” of KGS golfers for their participants in the golf charity event held in conjunction with the Kuching Festival celebration.

Chan hoped that these golfers would continue to participate in future golf charity tournaments as without them, such event would not be successful.

He then announced that the proceed from the event will go to three charitable organisations namely Breast Cancer Support Group, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society and Sarawak Autistic Association.

Held for the first time, the one-day event was organised by MBKS in conjunction with Kuching Festival 2010. The cheque presentation ceremony to the three charitable bodies will be held on Aug 19.

Present at the closing ceremony were Vice President of KGS Professor Dr Mohd Syafiq, KGS Captain Patrick Chieng and Organising Chairman of Kuching Festival 2010 Cr Mohd Taufik.
