KUALA LUMPUR: The Government is ready to launch seven projects under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced yesterday.

“We will announce the seven new projects soon, where some major projects will provide a huge catalyst for the market and economy,” he said at the Asean 100 Leadership Forum 2010.

The seven projects were part of the 131 entry point projects identified under the roadmap to be implemented over the next 10 years.

“It will add 0.6 to 0.7 per cent to the gross domestic product (GDP),” said Najib.

The ETP aims to increase Malaysia’s Gross National Income (GNI) to RM1.7 trillion and create some three million jobs by 2010.

The ETP needs RM1.4 trillion, of which, 92 per cent will come from private investments. — Bernama
