SUPP president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan on Friday night openly declared that Harden is the ‘right man’ to defend the seat for the party.

“SUPP has named him  to defend the seat in view of his excellent performance as an elected representative in the area,” Dr Chan pointed out.

Harden is SUPP Simanggang branch chairman and Assistant Minister of Land Development.

According to Dr Chan, there was no better candidate other than Harden to defend the seat for the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Dr Chan revealed this when speaking at Sa’ati Night 2010 held at the civic centre here in connection with SUPP’s 50th anniversary celebration.

With the announcement, two SUPP candidates – Dr Johnicol Rayong and Harden – are already publicly known as candidates for the coming election.

Earlier this week, Dr Chan disclosed that the party has accepted Dr Rayong, who is Engkilili independent assemblyman, into the party.

On Friday night, Dr Chan also vowed to ‘go all out’ against the opposition in the coming polls, while dismissing talks that the party was getting unpopular among the people.

“SUPP has no fear of the opposition. In the coming polls we will go all out against whoever contests against us,” Dr Chan, who is also Minister of Industrial Development, asserted.

Urging the people to continue supporting BN candidates, Dr Chan who is also Minister of Tourism and Heritage stressed that the party still has the support of all races even though the majority of party members are Chinese.

Present at the function were SUPP secretary general Senator Datuk Sim Kheng Hui, Lubok Antu MP William Nyallau, Harden, Dr Rayong and Batang Ai assemblyman Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.
