Muhyiddin heads Sabah honours list

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin headed the recipients list of Sabah state awards in conjunction with Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah’s 64th birthday celebration, yesterday.

Muhyiddin was among three recipients of the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) award which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri Panglima’.

Two other recipients of the SPDK award were Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia and Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

Sabah Assistant Finance Minister Donald Peter Mojuntin was among 52 recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) which carries the title ‘Datuk’.

Others included Inanam assemblyman Johnny Goh, Bingkor assemblyman Justin Guka, state education director Dr Muhiddin Yussin, state National Registration Department director Abd Jaffear Henry, Sabah Nurses Association president Bibi Flrina Abdullah, Sepanggar Umno chief Jumat Idris, World Wildlife Fund adviser for Borneo Dr Junaidi Payne, Sabah Women’s Advisory Council deputy chairman Mariati Robert Abdullah, POIC Sdn Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Pang Teck Wai, Sabah Women’s Affairs Department director Siti Sapoo Ahok, State Resources Development and Information Technology Advancement Ministry permanent secretary Matius Sator and well-known Sabah emcee Gan Po Tiau.

The other PGDK recipients were Abdul Ghaffar Riji Al-Hafiz, Abdul Rahim Hamdan, Abdullah Sibil, Ahmad Shah Hussien Tambakau, Alan Ang Poon Seong, Baharin Din, Chin Chee Kee, Dr Ganeshanandha VS Senathirajah, Dr Ismail Ahmad, James Wong, Jikulin Nointin @ Anastasius, Dr Johan Arriffin Abdul Samad, John @ Onong Anthony, Joseph Lo Tain Foh, Kassim Aman, Lee Keat Seong, Freddy Lim Nyuk Sang, Lim Pang Seng, Masood Salleh, Dr Mohamed Alwi Abdul Rahman, Murshidi Abd Ghaffar, Dr Osman @ Othman Minudin, Peter Wong Ging Jik @ Wong King Sing, Dr Ranjit Mathew Oomen, Rosdianah Mohd Nor, Sabin @ Sapilim Samitah, Sia Hiong Tee, Datuk Seri Sri Santhara Kumar A/L Ramanaidu, Stanislau Kinsik, Suffian Abang Sufi, SAC Syed Ahmad Syed Hassan, Tan Cheang Kiat, Dr Thomas Tsen Lip Tet, Vincent Yong Kon Fah, Wee Kok Tiong, Yapp Hiong Yun and Yeo Boon Hai @ Arling Ukau.

Sabah Journalists Association president Datuk Jonistan Bangkuai was among 13 people to receive the Justice of  Peace (JP) with the others being Armizan Mohd Ali, Datuk Clement Jaikul, Datuk George Anhony Ginibun, Ho Cheong Hon, Hung Kan Yin, Datuk Ismail Awang Besar, Japar Esteban @ Japar Nasir, Junior Koh Siew Hui, Datuk Lee Chuen Wan, John Lim Yu Sin, Mohd Hanan Awang Ramli and Datuk Yussof Abdul Manan.

The official birthday celebration of he Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah, which is usually held on Sept 16 each year, will from now on be held on the first Saturday of October.

The change was due to Sept 16 now being declared a public holiday to celebrate Malaysia Day. — Bernama
