GUA MUSANG: The Chinese community in Galas has stated its stand to support Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming state constituency’s by-election.

According to Gua Musang MCA division chief Chee Sien Chen, a series of meetings held with the Chinese community here recently, showed that the Chinese here no longer had confidence in PAS’ struggle which did not bring them any development.

In fact, he said, they were disappointed with the PAS elected representatives in their areas who took no interest in their lot.

“The Chinese community’s open support for BN in Gua Musang which is led by Ku Li (Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah) will give BN more confidence in wresting back the Galas seat from PAS,” Chee told reporters after a meeting with the party’s election machinery, here, yesterday.

The Galas seat is vacant following the death of its incumbent assemblyman, Che Hashim Sulaima, 46, from PAS, on Sept 27 due to colon cancer.

The Election Commission would meet today to fix the nomination and polling dates for the Galas by-election.

Chee said it was clear to the Chinese community in Galas that only BN could bring development which they were enjoying now.

“The Chinese here will no longer be easily taken in by the promises made by PAS leaders as they have failed to deliver those made before,” he added.

Chee will be meeting Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh, as the Galas by-election director, on working together to ensure victory for BN. — Bernama
