KUCHING: The deadline to enjoy ‘early bird’ registration for the ‘Better Understanding of the MICE (meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition) Industry’ is fast approaching.

Interested conference participants are encouraged to register and confirm their seats before Oct 20 where they can enjoy a registration rate of only RM850 per person for the two-day conference. After that date, participants will need to pay RM980 per person.

“We are encouraging interested participants to take advantage of the early bird rate,” said managing editor of MICE In Asia publication Julia Rahman Douglas, when calling on those involved in the MICE industry to attend this conference.

The two-day conference, which will be held on Nov 4 and 5 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, is organised to enhance and enrich the MICE industry in the state.

Designed specifically for stakeholders and professionals in the MICE sector, the upcoming conference will see the big names in the industry presenting their respective papers.

“The topics that will be presented will be useful to anyone who wishes to orientate themselves in the broader dynamics of the MICE industry that is seeing a rapid change in trend,” said Douglas. She also believed the existing MICE practitioners would pick up new skills and techniques at the conference, where MICE trainer Eunice Gan would be conducting four sessions of talks on various aspects of MICE sectors ranging from selling, marketing and promoting MICE activities.

Other speakers that have been invited to the conference include author of marketing book, Michael Alan Hamlin and marketer Bert Van Walbeek.

Hamlin will deliver a keynote address and his topic is on ‘Marketing Asian Places: Attracting Investments, Industries, Residents and Visitors to Asian Cities, Communities, Regions and Nations’.

The other speaker, Walbeek, is also renowned for his motivational talks and he will be presenting a paper entitled ‘How to Wow: the Ten Commandments of MICE Destination Marketing’.

Douglas has expressed confidence that the upcoming conference would help boost the MICE industry in the state especially when the state government has given emphasis on making Sarawak a preferred meeting destination in the region.

Organised by MICE In Asia publication, the conference is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, Sarawak, and Sarawak Convention Bureau. UCSI University, Sarawak Campus is the supporting event partner and Pullman Hotel and Resorts Kuching is the official hotel.
