KUCHING: About 60 young ladies came for this year’s Miss Borneo Beautiful (MBB2010) audition yesterday.

But only 20 made it into the semifinals this coming Saturday (Oct 23).
They are Khairsara Natasha Chairmaine, 19, Teresa Lee, 18, Corry Angking, 19, Fidellia Molly, 23, Crystal Ann Daniel, 20, Chiong Siok Ting, 25, Sylvia Lorra, 21, Marshella Ann, 24, Lovita Celinny, 25, Roziella Napia, 21, Aliceca Jirud, 23, Angelica De Rozario, 22 and Dewi Dervina, 22, Rosalind Sajah, 22, Gven George, 19, Romena Jane, 18, Pipi Anderiyati, 24, Syatilla Malik, 18, Anthea Tessa Alvin, 21, and Rovitta Jane, 19.
The 20 semi-finalists will join another 18 from an audition held earlier in Miri.
At the semifinals this Saturday, 18 finalists will be chosen for the grand final on Nov 27.
Organised by Alaric Soh of Alaric’s Production Company, MBB 2010 is sponsored by The Borneo Post, Utusan Borneo, Riverside Majestic Hotel, Mega Hotel, UCSI University, Alan Inspiration Saloon, Lea Centre, Lady Jenn, Les Paul and Phil Art Photography.
The panel of judges comprise Soh himself, MBB reigning winner Livonia Ricky, Miss Cheongsam 1994 winner Anna Sze, Miss Malaysia Model 2005 Shirley Su and Miss Cheongsam 2010 Jocelyn Chong.
Open to Sarawakians, MBB2010 is scouting for talented single ladies aged 17 to 25 years old and able to communicate proficiently in English. The top five winners will receive RM5,000, RM3,000, RM2,000, RM1,000 and RM800.
Winners of subsidiary titles such as Miss Talent, Miss Friendship, Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality and Best Performer will each receive RM500 while all finalists will each receive RM300.
Top three winners will also get the opportunity to do a year’s part time or full time course of Executive Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism at USCI University Sarawak Campus.
The course will be paid for in full (RM11,000) for the winner while the first runner-up is entitled to a 50 per cent discount, and second runner-up, 30 per cent discount. For details on MBB2010, visit www.miss sarawak.com or www. alaricsoh. blogspot.com.
