KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Farmers’ Organisation Authority (FOA) is expected to expand its wings to Sarawak soon.

According to its chairman Datuk Zainal Dahalan, they have been invited to brief the Sarawak government on the roles and functions of FOA and how it would benefit farmers in the state.

Speaking during a dinner function in conjunction with the Sabah Farmers Organisation Authority’s annual general meeting here yesterday, he said agriculture has become one of the most important industries in the country.

“A lot of effort has been done by the government to ensure sustainable development for the industry, which has benefited farmers nationwide, including the upgrading of machines and other facilities to improve production,” he said.

He said through the organisation, its members were able to exchange expertise and experiences to further improve their skills and knowledge in agriculture and food production.

Also present at the event was Sabah FOA chairman Mohd Nazri Abdullah.
