Robbers strike at two Sandakan homes

SANDAKAN: Five armed robbers tied up a family of seven and robbed them of jewellery items and cash worth about RM30,000 at Taman Tyng off Mile 6, Jalan Utara here on Tuesday.

The masked robbers were armed with knives and wooden sticks when they broke into the terrace house.

They tied up the house owner and his family members before ransacking the house around 3am-4am before escaping with the stolen properties.

All the victims managed to free themselves before one of them,  identified as Lee, a 29-year-old teacher, lodged a police report late in the afternoon.

On Monday, five robbers armed with machetes and wood also broke into a house at Mile 25, Labuk Road around 3am and tied up a couple and their children.

The armed men did not harm the victims and escaped with about RM7,000 worth of valuables.

The house owner lodged a police report after freeing himself.

District deputy chief superintendent Fadzil Mohd Ali said police were investigating whether the two cases were committed by the same robbers.

He urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist the police to solve the two cases.
