MIRI: Pujut assemblyman Andy Chia yesterday chided DAP Miri for accusing him of failing to bring development to the Malay and Chinese communities in his constituency.

He said its chairman Fong Pau Teck must check his facts first before making the statement as both communities were provided with tar-sealed roads, drainage systems and funds to improve their community halls in kampongs and housing areas.

“ I don’t know what is he talking about and I urge Fong to do his homework,” he said to members of the press after handing over an MRP grant of RM5,000 to SK Pujut Corner, Miri yesterday.

While brushing aside the accusation as wild allegation, he said he had also helped Chinese schools by allocating them a lot of funds from his MRP grant.

“Don’t stir allegations that I’m neglecting the Malays and Chinese in Pujut, as development had been channelled to benefit them during the last five years,” he said.

On the other hand, DAP Miri had not done anything to benefit the people and were good in complaining only, he added.

Responding to a question, Chia said that he was ready to face Fong in the coming state election as he had contested against him during the previous state election where he won with a majority of over 1,000 votes.
