SANDAKAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Batu Sapi by-election Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin said she could carry out the task of winning the seat for BN as she had the heart to serve.

“I have the heart to serve, to carry on, to continue what my late husband had done for the people.
“I was always behind my husband, but now, I am the one in front,” she said when asked if she had the confidence to carry out the task of winning the seat, during her walkabout at Bandar Ramai Ramai near here.
She said she would visit the related areas to win back the Chinese votes which they lost in the previous election, as well as bumiputera areas, especially the poor.
“The (campaigning) programme has already been arranged so I know what to do and prepare everytime, early in the morning.
“I will give more ceramah, if I can. I will go on the ground and meet as many people as I can, during the entire campaign, to show that I can serve the people,” she told reporters.
Tsen is the widow of Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah, the incumbent of the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), who was killed in a road accident on Oct 9.
On what she intended to do if she won the by-election, the candidate said she would enable BN to carry on with whatever projects that were half-completed, such as bridges and jetties, as well as solar power projects which Chong had introduced at villages.
Tsen is up against Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee and Ansari Abdullah from Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
In her campaign paraphernalia copies to be distributed to voters, Tsen has appealed to the voters of Batu Sapi to let her serve them as her late husband had done, before his untimely death.
She said her husband had a deep desire to bring progress and development to the Batu Sapi area.
“I know that he had felt a sense of personal debt to his constituents, a debt that I feel I should strive to repay on his behalf.
“If I am given a chance to do it, this is what I will do. I will continue where my husband left of, and devote myself fully to the unfinished tasks.” — Bernama
