BINTULU: Three more persons were reported to be among the survivors of an accident where an express boat capsized in Sungai Kakus, Ulu Tatau near the Kelebu timber camp recently.

Investigating officer Chief Inspector Zulkifle Othman told The Borneo Post yesterday that to date there were 20 survivors — not 17 as stated earlier.

He said of the three, two were males identified only as Spuum and Anjang Wan.

The third was a crew member of the boat.

They said they managed to escape without injuries, and after being saved they went to their villages.

“However, they were still traumatised and wished not to be disturbed until they have fully recovered,” said Zulkifle yesterday.

He was met outside the local courthouse after the express boat skipper was produced in court.

The survivors felt that after regaining their confidence, they lodged their reports at Tatau police station last Saturday.

This has been confirmed by Tatau police chief DSP Wan Zaizodin Wan Jaafar.
