KUCHING: A young man was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital for consuming poison following a row with his brother-in-law over a seemingly trivial matter early yesterday.
The incident happened shortly after midnight at the 27-year-old victim’s house when he clashed with his brother-in-law after finding out the latter had used his car without first seeking his permission.
The two were believed to have scuffled at their house in Capital Garden before the victim locked himself in his bedroom and downed a small amount of weed killer.
After hearing him groaning in pain, the brother-in-law came to his aid and kicked open the bedroom door before driving the victim (using his car) to the hospital where he received treatment and was later warded.
His condition is reported to be stable.
In an unrelated incident, a man from Singai in Bau sustained a gash to his head when he was robbed of a mere RM7 by four men early yesterday.
The victim was waiting for a friend to pick him up at the Batu Kawah New Township around 1.30am when four unknown men arrived on three motorcycles and demanded for his valuables.
When he refused, the men beat him up and took his wallet, which contained only RM7, before speeding away.
The victim lodged a report at the nearby Batu Kawah police station and was later sent by policemen to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
