Chemistry Department opens Tawau branch

TAWAU: The Chemistry Department has set up a second lab in Sabah worth more than RM1.2 million at Bandar Sri Indah (BSI) here.

OFFICIALLY OPEN: Maximus launching the new chemical lab at Bandar Sri Indah, Tawau.

Its other branch in the state is in Kota Kinabalu.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili yesterday officiated the grand opening of the lab.

Maximus said the 14th lab in the country would be able to provide better services to the people in the east coast of Sabah.

“Various factors such as the strategic location, port and township were considered before setting up the new chemical lab here,” he pointed out.

The Chemistry Department’s headquarters is in Petaling Jaya.

Before the opening of the new lab, the Kota Kinabalu branch served the entire state.

Also present was Malaysia Chemistry Department deputy director (operational) Datin Maharam Juson.
