Multi-storey car park proposed

TAWAU: The district hospital is planning to build a multi-storey car park at its car park this year once the government has approved the fund.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datuk Edward Khoo Keok Hai said he had discussed the need for the multi-storey car park to ease the parking problem with Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, and the latter had agreed to allocate fund for the project.

He disclosed this after meeting the Tawau Hospital management and MCA Kalabakan committee here yesterday morning.

“Touching on the temporary parking space near the hospital here, the hospital received a formal letter from Warisan Harta company on Oct 25.   The company has agreed and  allowed the Tawau Hospital to use part of its land as a temporary car park for three years to overcome the parking problem.

“The hospital is still waiting for feedback from the Public Works Department (PWD) for using the other part of the land as temporary parking space. If everything is done, the hospital will apply for a construction permit from the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) to  develop the land into a temporary open space car park,” Edward pointed out.
