SANDAKAN: A total of 1,615 voters will cast postal ballots between today and Wednesday in the Batu Sapi parliamentary by-election, according to the Election Commission (EC).
These voters are personnel from the police, General Operations Force (GOF), Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and EC workers, said Batu Sapi returning officer Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain.
The policemen would cast their ballots at the Sandakan police headquarters today, the GOF personnel at the GOF headquarters in Karamunting tomorrow and the RMN personnel in Taman Samudera, Jalan Labuk, on Wednesday, he said.
The EC workers could vote on any day from today to Wednesday, he told reporters after distributing the postal ballots at the Sandakan Community Hall here.
Mohd Hamsan said all the cast postal ballots would be kept at the hall and would only be counted after 5pm on polling day on Thursday.
He also said that the 24,047 ballot papers for ordinary polling had been brought to the hall for verification by the political parties contesting the by-election.
The by-election is a three-corner fight among Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin of the Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Yong Teck Lee of the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and Ansari Abdullah of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
