Puspakom checks condition of bus involved in accident

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of officers from the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) yesterday conducted a check on the bus that was involved in the accident at Km38 Genting Sempah following allegations that the vehicle had a problem with the brake during the incident.

The inspection was conducted at the Gombak District Police Headquarters where the bus, which is now badly damaged due to the accident, was kept.

Gombak district police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah told Bernama that Puspakom was called in to assist in the investigation and to make an assessment on the bus following claims by a witness and the bus driver that the vehicle had faulty brakes.

In the incident at 7.50pm on Friday, the bus which was carrying 44 youths from Kampung Baru Siong, Baling, Kedah, was involved in the accident as it was coming downhill from Genting Highlands.

Seven people died in the accident while 39 others, including the bus driver, were injured. — Bernama
