MIRI: Pujut assemblyman Andy Chia yesterday reminded Sarawakians not to be taken in by PAS propaganda.

GIVING ATTENTION: Chia (third right, front row) listens to a point on blocked drain brought up by a resident.

He said the party was resorting to various means, including condemning the Barisan Nasional (BN) government to win the people’s support.

He said PAS had no concrete plans or programmes to improve the standard of living of the rakyat, urging the people in the state to look at things in a bigger perspective.

Chia was speaking to The Borneo Post after officiating at a gotong-royong at Piasau Jaya Phase 3 and 4 here.

The assemblyman was asked to comment on PAS’ move to engage youngsters here to distribute pamphlets at supermarkets and shopping complexes during weekends.

Chia said the BN government had brought tremendous development and progress to the state and its people and it would continue to do so for the betterment of all.

On the other hand, he said PAS had done nothing for the people of the state and the party would make its presence felt when elections were around.

Chia reiterated that the BN government had never neglected the hard core poor including the disabled, single mothers and the handicapped.

In his speech earlier, he urged the residents in the area not to dump their garden wastes and other unwanted items indiscriminately.

“This will portray a bad image of your residential area apart from creating mosquito breeding grounds,” he emphasised.

About 80 residents in Piasau Jaya Phase 3 and 4 took part in the gotong-royong organised by the Residents’ Committee of Zone 9 and assisted by Rukun Tetangga of Phases 3 and 4 and Miri City Council.

Among those present at the function were PBB Pujut branch women chief Councillor Laila Mohamad and PBB Pujut branch deputy chairman Masni Amit.
