KUCHING: Mambong MP Datuk Dr James Dawos on Saturday expressed the hope that projects meant for his constituency would not be delayed or neglected by the contractors involved.

OFF YOU GO: Dawos (second left) and others release fish into the river.

He said if such a thing happened it could affect the people’s support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in the two state constituencies of Bengoh and Tarat which came under Mambong.

In view of this, he said a series of Berambeh PBB Bengoh programmes were being held to get feedback from the people.

“That’s why we always organise programmes here to be close to the society.  This is also how we will know whether the contractors awarded the contracts to build facilities or to do maintenance works or upgrading are doing their jobs or not.

“I don’t want to see any neglected projects in my area. All projects must be implemented,” he stressed.

Dawos, who is Deputy Tourism Minister and PBB  Bengoh branch chairman, was speaking to reporters at the first Berambeh PBB Bengoh programme at Kampung Jambu in Padawan, about 60 km from here on Saturday.

On another matter, he said he was confident that BN could retain Bengoh and Tarat seats in the next state election.

He said this was based on the good track record of the coalition in the two constituencies.

Bengoh is held by fellow BN component, SUPP  through Dr Jerip Susil while Tarat is represented by three-term assemblyman Roland Sagah, who is from PBB.

Dawos also said PBB Bengoh Youth movement had vigorously organised seminars and talks to capture the hearts of young voters.

To mark the programme at Kampung Jambu, the PBB leader released 3,000 fish from the Agriculture Department into Sungai Pangga in the village.

Apart from that, Dawos also led in the planting of eight guava trees.

President of Biperoh Association Dr Benedict Poris, Sarawak Suhakam Commissioner Detta Samen and Senior Assistant Controller of Natural Resources and Environment Board Paul Ponar were among those present.
