Traders not registering for flood aid

JITRA: Traders here are suffering heavy losses, but many say they do not plan to register themselves as flood victims.

They said that they were disappointed with the last time they did  five years ago.

Low Poh Wan of Pekan Jitra 2 said that traders were asked to register their names for financial aid after the big floods of 2005.

The 47-year-old added: “We waited and waited but received nothing. I do not want to register and in the end did not get what is promised.” Low, who owns Wan Hantaran Enterprise, which sells decorative flowers, sewing material and wedding items, said the floods five years ago cost him over RM5,000.

He estimates his losses this time around to be double of that. — Bernama
