MIRI: A Primary 1 pupil in Bakong sub-district shocked her teacher during moral lesson last Friday by revealing that her stepfather had raped her at their longhouse.
The pupil, who was in tears, told her teacher that her stepfather was a bad man.
“He poked his finger into my anus, and later raped me,” the seven-year-old told the dumbfounded teacher.
The teacher who was shocked by the revelation informed the school authority.
The school is located a short distance from the longhouse.
The pupil was brought to Miri Central Police Station (CPS) to lodge a report, but was referred back to Beluru Police Station.
Baram police chief DSP Abu Bakar when contacted by The Borneo Post over the phone yesterday confirmed receiving the report.
He said police had classified the case as rape, an offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years’ imprisonment and whipping if convicted.
Police sent the girl to Miri Hospital for a medical check-up to verify her allegation.
The identity of the suspect is known to police and an arrest is expected soon.
According to sources, the suspect is a local.
The girl’s revelation sent shock waves through the school and the general public who were disgusted by what they perceived as a heinous crime against an innocent seven-year-old.
