KUCHING: Celcom Axiata Bhd (Celcom), formerly known as Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd announced it had selected Motricity to provide a technology platform that will deliver personalised and relevant mobile experiences to all its 11 million customers.

Motricity’s mCore Platform will offer Celcom’s subscribers a personalised mobile Internet browsing experience, with their preferred content and information optimised for their mobile phones.

“Mobile devices are becoming the primary way our subscribers access the web and we want the right content and information to be easily accessible, quickly and in a user-friendly format no matter what device they may be using. With Motricity’s success with some of the largest operators in the world, Celcom will bring the best possible mobile data service experience to our customers,” said Celcom’s chief executive officer Datuk Shazalli Ramly in a press statement.

Motricity’s solution is delivered through its hosted mCore Platform, enabling Celcom to design, configure, customise, and implement highly personalised mobile data experiences. The mCore Platform sits at the centre of the mobile data ecosystem, facilitating the distribution and use of mobile content and applications, mobile commerce and other mobile data marketing services.

It will allow consumers to more easily access their social networks, make purchases and find information on their mobile devices, giving them better access to the content and information they care about most.

“Celcom represents an important expansion within the Axiata group of companies. We are enthusiastic about our continued partnership as we see the Asia Pacific region as one of the most important growth markets for mobile data services,” said Motricity founder and chief executive officer Ryan Wuerch.

Celcom is the second Axiata company to select Motricity to transform its mobile data service business. In May, Motricity announced its partnership with XL Axiata, one of Indonesia’s fastest growing telecommunications operators with 42 million subscribers throughout its coverage area.
