10 injured in three-vehicle collision

KOTA KINABALU: Ten people were injured in an accident involving three vehicles near the Industrial Training Institute in Jalan Sumana, near here yesterday.

Abdul Sammy Kabun, 41, who is a businessman, was driving his 11-year-old son, and daughters aged 10 and 16 respectively in his Isuzu D-Max from their home at Taman Laya-Laya in Tuaran to their schools in Likas.

When the businessman arrived near the institute, a Perodua Rusa from the opposite direction suddenly lost control and collided with the D-Max.

The collision caused the D-Max to swerve into the drain.

Fortunately, Abdul Sammy and his three children only suffered minor injuries.

Nonetheless, the van further collided with a Perodua MyVi that was travelling behind Abdul Sammy, causing serious damage to both vehicles.

Abdul Sammy and his three children were sent to the hospital.

Two victims in the MyVi, the 40 year-old Rusa driver and his two daughters, aged nine and two, and a relative, were also sent to the hospital.
