KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced seven Filipinas aged between 20 and 50 years old to five months’ jail each, for possessing fake MyKads last month.

Satria Kamui, Kinol Arsan, Dulmina Allayon, Darwisa Abrasa, Baina Abdu Kalai, Rena Dassan and Nasra Jinari pleaded guilty yesterday before Magistrate Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim to their separate charges under Regulation 25 (1) (e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.

The offence is punishable by a maximum jail of three years or a fine of between RM3,000 and RM20,000 or both, on conviction.

Prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Ismail Mohd Razali told the court that all the accused were arrested at the Immigration Department check-in counter at Terminal Two at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Nov 3  on suspicion of possessing fake MyKads.

Ismail said the National Registration Department confirmed the MyKads were fake as the department record showed it never issued the document to the seven accused.

In passing sentence, Noor Hafizah also ordered all the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving their jail terms for further action. — Bernama
