KUCHING: A clash between owners of a nightspot and a group of men landed six of them in the hospital with slash wounds and other injuries early yesterday.

BRIEF BUT BLOODY: Police escort the nightspot owners to a waiting ambulance.

The incident happened around 2.30am at the Travillion Mall when a group of roughly 10 men left one nightspot and tried to enter another, only to be denied entry by the owners, who explained that the premises was closing as it was past operating hours.

When the group still persisted in entering, a war of words erupted, which suddenly led to both parties brandishing sharp weapons and attacking each other.

The quick arrival of police brought an end to the brief clash, with three men aged between 28 and 43 from the group seeking treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.

The three owners, aged between 21 and 24, also sustained slash wounds and sought treatment at the same hospital where they encountered the same group again.

Fortunately, the presence of policemen at the scene prevented any further untoward incident.

It is understood that both parties planned to lodge police reports against each other.
