‘Adhere to regulations of Printing and Publishing Act’

KUCHING: The Home Ministry’s two-day Customers Day programme, starting from last Saturday was attended by hundreds of city folks, making the event a success.

Various agencies under the ministry and numerous non-governmental organisations (NGO) took part in the event and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein saw it as an active approach by the agencies to come to the ground to offere services to the public.

At the event, five entities were also awarded their publication permit; among them were See Hua News Bhd and Harian Borneo Sdn Bhd.

See Hua Daily News Regional news manager Chia Chiew Boon received the permit on behalf of See Hua News Bhd and Harian Borneo Sdn Bhd.

A further three companies namely; Hens Sing Brothers Press, Lee Brothers Offset Printing Company and Her/Bee Press Sdn Bhd received its printing machine licence certificate.

“Please make sure to always adhere to the regulations of the licence and permit, publication guidelines and also to the Printing and Publishing Act 1984. The ministry will always do strict monitoring to ensure the regulations are met to ensure public harmony,”  Hishammuddin reminded the eight entities.

He stated this in his speech on the closing of the Home Ministry’s ‘Customer Day’ at the Kampung Boyan-Gersik-Surabaya Waterfront, here yesterday.

In addition, the Home Ministry also presented excellent association certificates to ten associations from the city. The recognition was in line with the association’s effort in improving the livelihood, welfare, education, cultures and religious faith of the community.

This recognition was handed out by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

All the ten associations received a total of RM20,000 each. The societies were; Dayak-Bidayuh National Association, Sarawak Dayak National Union, National Association of Malay Sarawak, Harakah Islamiah Hikmah and Sarawak Buddhist Association.

These also included the Retired Civil Servants Association Sarawak, Kuching-Samarahan division Chinese Association, Chinese Medium Primary School Teachers Kuching-Samarahan division Association, Single-mothers association Sarawak and Churches Association Sarawak.

The Prisons Department also handed out recognition certificates to St Joseph Church Kuching, St Augustine Church Betong, Prison Fellowship Malaysia and AADK for its continuous work in helping prisoners go through their rehabilitation process.

Also present at the event yesterday were Housing and Urban Development Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, Parliament Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof.
