PETALING JAYA: About 100 people claiming to be Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members staged a demonstration for about 45 minutes in front of the PJ Civic Centre where the PKR National Congress is being held.
Led by former Selangor PKR treasurer K.S. Kottapan, they began demonstrating at 9.15 am, voicing their dissatisfaction with what they claimed to be manipulated party elections.
Kottapan, who was a candidate for the post of Kota Raja PKR Division chief, claimed that the party Central Leadership Council had ignored numerous protest letters sent to it on the alleged election fraud.
“Our intention is not to create chaos but to voice our feelings over the manipulated elections,” he told reporters.
At one stage, several youths attired in T-shirts bearing the words “SKUAD PKR” tried to prevent the demonstrators, carrying banners and posters, from going ahead with the protest. — Bernama
