Tenants eligible to buy PPR units, Dewan Rakyat told

THOSE renting National Economic Action Council people’s housing units (PPR) and City Hall’s  (DBKL) public housing (PA) housing units are eligible to purchase the units, the Dewan Rakyat was told yesterday.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the government was assisting tenants of these units to own them.

“The government has got the cooperation of financial insititutions to offer them three types of loans to enable them to buy over the units,” he said when replying to a question on the matter from Wee Choo Keong (Bebas-Wangsa Maju).

The loans were the normal housing loan facility, joint loans (husband and wife) and two-generation loans (which includes the children in securing loans).

As for those without fixed income but are eligible to buy the units, the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme was being extended to them to enable them to get bank loans, he added.

According to Raja Nong Chik, 44,146 PPR and PA units were available for purchase. — Bernama
