KUCHING: A 33-year-old wireman from Kampung Semariang who pleaded guilty to causing grievous hurt was sentenced to five months’ imprisonment.
Zakhirman Arshad appeared before Magistrate Portia Tham who convicted him under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
The accused admitted hurting his neighbour Roslan Wasli, 36, with a dangerous weapon at the five-foot-way of a flat at Taman Sriwijaya near Jalan Matang.
The offence was committed at about 10.50pm on Oct 7 this year.
According to Roslan who made a report on the day of the incident, his neighbour approached him and slashed him with a samurai sword, causing serious injuries on his back and left arm.
He said he was trying to get back his trousers and cellphone from Zakhirman who took them from his bedroom. Following an investigation, the accused was arrested on Dec 6.
Inspector Khairol Harun prosecuted while Zakhirman was not represented.
