SANDAKAN: Seven coastal police posts in Sabah are to be upgraded into police stations next year, Internal Security and Public Order director Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday.

The police posts were in Labuan, Kota Kinabalu, Kudat, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Semporna and Tawau, he told a news conference after a visit to the Sandakan Marine Operations Force office here.

Khalid also expressed his gratitude to those who had helped to free the two Malaysian seaweed farmers from Sabah who were abducted in Semporna and taken to the Philippines in February.

Tsen Vui Chung, 41, and Lai Wing Chau, 33, are believed to have been rescued by Philippine security forces at about 6am yesterday on Tawi-Tawi Island in southern Philippines. — Bernama
