SIBU: A man from Sungai Bawan suffered a broken left arm after the tyre from a lorry that he was inflating burst suddenly, causing the wheel to hit his arm, thus breaking it.

STILL IN PAIN: Larry shows his broken left arm.

The incident happened when the victim, Larry Clement, 35, was inflating the tyre which had been sent to his workplace, a tyre shop in Aman Road here at 3.50pm on Tuesday.

According to the victim, the lorry’s tyre needed to be inflated at least until 120 psi.

“I still remember when I saw the indicator, which was then pointing to100 psi and seeing it was not enough, I added another 20psi. However, the tyre exploded with incredible impact,” he said.

He added that he was taken aback after the wheel hit his arm upon the explosion.

“Fortunately, the wheel which weighed more than 100kg did not hit my face, else, my life would be at risk,” he said.

He said his employer and co-worker rushed him to the hospital where he was admitted to orthopedic ward.

An operation on his arm was scheduled to be held yesterday. Larry did not expect that his temporary job at the tyre shop, which is just one month plus into the job had bought this nightmare to him.

The man who used to work in Singapore was forced to forget his plans to venture into foreign work with his father-in-law in Papua New Guinea because of the incident.

“Worst still, I can’t work for at least six months or more and it will prevent me to fend for my family, what am I going to do,” he lamented.
