“No matter what the opposition says, the people in the constituency are more aware and wiser. Based on past records, Tenang has always been won by BN (Barisan Nasional).

“We hope voters in Tenang will continue to support BN,” he told a news conference after launching the “Teach For Malaysia” programme, here, yesterday.

Nevertheless, he said, BN would regard every by-election as a challenge and would never underestimate its opponents.

“We never underestimate the challenge from quarters, including the opposition, but we have our strategy as usual, and we will mobilise all the campaign machinery that we have,” he added.

Muhyiddin said BN had started its preparations for the Tenang by-election, which would be led by the Johor Menteri Besar.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has agreed that Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, as the state BN chairman, will lead the campaign as the election director,” he added.
